Swimmers Compete at ECAC Championships

Day One Results

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – While the women’s swimming and diving team competes in the Ivy Championships other members of the women’s team and men’s team traveled to the Steel City this weekend to take part in the ECAC Championships on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh. After day one, the women sit in seventh place with 80 points and the men are in 11th place with 31 points.

The women’s 200-yard freestyle relay team finished eighth in the A-Final. Francie Free, Michelle Cohen, Amy Wolf and Sara Aiello, a team made up of three freshmen and one sophomore, clocked at 1:42.01.

In the 500-yard freestyle, Penn had four women compete. Andrea DeLeon (5:13.25) finished seventh and Lauren Talman (5:14.21) eighth. Erica Stutius (5:11.76) and Katherine Donahue (5:12.86) placed 11th and 12th respectively.

The final event the women competed in was the 400-yard medley relay. DeLeon, Wolf, Aiello and Cohen took seventh at 4:06.18.

Members of the men’s team competed in two events. Tim Howett (21.35) was the top-finisher in the B-Final of the 50-yard freestyle. In the 400-yard medley relay, Steve Martucci, J.T. Heffernan, Robert Casey and Howett placed eight at 3:38.08.
