PHILADELPHIA - The College Swimming Coaches Association of America announced its Scholar All-America Team Awards for the Fall 2011 semester on Wednesday, with both the men's and women's teams from the University of Pennsylvania among those honored.
The men's team had a cumulative GPA of 3.19 last semester, a mark that ranked 24th among all Division I institutions. Only 68 teams in the nation met the standards required to be eligible for this award.
On the women's side, a combined GPA of 3.14 placed the Quakersin a group of155 Division I teams that reached the grade point average necessary to receive a scholar award.
The Team Scholar All American award is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams, who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The award is presented to teams achieving this standard in the fall semester and in the semester of the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.
