NORTH MIAMI, Fla. - The men's and women's swimming teams finish up their week of training in the sun on Tuesday when they take on Brown on the campus of Florida International University.
In Florida for the week, the women look to draw even in the Ivy League as they currently sit at 1-2, after dropping their last meet against Columbia. Brown, meanwhile is 1-1, with a loss to Princeton and a win against Dartmouth under their belt. Most recently they took third place at the Bucknell Invitational in early December.
For the Quakers to earn a victory they'll need strong performances from their breaststrokers, Laura Klick, Ji Young Lee and Kelby Zimmerman. Penn will also rely on senior Andrea Balint, who has three first place finishes in the 200 IM, and divers Madeline Bauer and Melissa Gardel, who combined for a pair of top two finishes against Columbia.
On the men's side, the Red and Blue are 1-2 in the Ivy League and finished second in the Kenyon Invitational in the first week of December. The Brown men are 1-1 in the Ivy League and most recently fell to Princeton 224-91 on December 6.
To take down the Bears, Penn will count sophomores Brendan McHugh and Jeff Cragg. McHugh has multiple first place finishes in the 100 and 200 breaststroke this season, while Cragg has finished 1st in the one-meter diving event twice. He also took a first and a third in the three-meter event. Senior James Fee also looks to continue his successful season, following his first place finishes in the 500 and 1650 at Kenyon. Fee's 500 time of 4:47.78 also set a pool record.
