Swimming's Gan and Ruddy Compete in Triathlon

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – On Sunday morning, the University of Pennsylvania swimming teams had two members compete in the 4th Annual Atlantic City International Triathlon at Bader Field. Seniors Zoe Gan and Sam Ruddy participated in the Sprint Race, which consisted of a 1/4 mile swim, 10 mile bike, and 5k run. With over 560 entrants competing, Gan placed first in the women’s race and Ruddy finished sixth in the men’s.

Not only did Gan place first in the women’s competition, but she also finished seventh overall in the sprint event with a time of 1:01:44.5. The youngest female participant within the top five, Gan completed the race 2:28.7 ahead of the second-place finisher.

Ruddy finished the men’s race in 1:01:27.5, just 8.8 seconds shy of fifth place.

Gan and Ruddy, along with the rest of the men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams, will begin the 2014-15 slate in November.
