Tesch Named Big Five Co-Player of the Week

PHILADELPHIA - Following a week that saw him go 9-for-22 with a pair of doubles and home runs while crossing the plate six times and knocking in seven, Gary Tesch was named Philadelphia Big Five Player of the Week.

The Ivy League's leading hitter continued his assault on opposing pitching hitting in all five contests, adding three more multi-hit games to his season-total, giving him 11. Tesch started his week with back-to-back two-hit games with a double in each, but saved his best for last, homering twice against Yale in the second half of a doubleheader, including a grand slam in the eighth inning to give him six RBIs for the day.

Tesch shares the award with Drew Stafford Jr. of St. Joseph's, who hit just shy of .500 for the week and hit his ninth home run of the season.

Penn is back in action on Tuesday when they head to Lafayette for the final game of the Liberty Bell Classic.
