THANK YOU! Penn Champions Club Surpasses 2015-16 Fundraising Goal

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania Division of Recreation and Intercollegiate Athletics (DRIA) is proud to announce that the Penn Champions Club surpassed its fundraising goal of $19.9M for total contributions in support of athletics during the 2015-16 fiscal year. Penn Athletics raised more than $22.9M in total gifts from over 6,300 generous donors, which is inclusive of contributions toward annual, endowment and capital gifts.

In addition to surpassing the total fundraising goal, Penn Athletics also exceeded its annual cash-in goal of $5.9M by raising more than $9.1M with the support of more than 5,700 donors. This represents the third-straight year that both the number of donors and donation dollars have increased with regard to Penn Athletics annual support. The overall giving to Penn Athletics exceeded $52M during this three-year time period.

Meeting the need for capital project related gifts was a priority throughout the year, and the Penn Champions Club raised more than $11.4M to help finance the costs of facility improvements throughout the department. Additionally, more than $1.5M was raised to increase the athletics-specific endowment for the third consecutive fiscal year.

“Providing for the needs of current and future student-athletes remains the focus of all our fundraising efforts,” said the Executive Director of Penn Athletics Development, Scarlett Schneider. “The accomplishments of the Penn Champions Club are a direct result of the dedication and support of the entire Penn Athletics community aiming big and helping to champion the lives of our student-athletes, and in particular our dedicated volunteers and members of our Sport Boards. We are incredibly lucky at Penn to have such dedicated supporters who embrace the mission of Athletics and are so willing to give their time, talent and treasure.”
