Third Place for Women's Cross Country at Princeton

PRINCETON, N.J. – A strong showing at the Princeton Invitational paved way for the University of Pennsylvania women’s cross country team to a third place finish out of 35 teams competing on the West Windsor Fields Saturday morning. Three Quakers finished within two seconds of each other, leading the Red and Blue to 122 team points.

Sophomore twin sisters Clarissa Whiting and Cleo Whiting finished 13th at 22:06 and 14th at 22:07, respectively, while junior Elyssa Gensib was right behind in 15th with a time of 22:08. Junior captain Amy Darlington was the fourth member of the Red and Blue to cross the finish line in 22:28, and freshman Kylene Cochrane was the fifth in 22:34.

The freshman had their chance at the open race and Isabel Griffith and Karen Xiang finished back-to-back in fifth and sixth place in 23:16 and 23:17, respectively. Hailey Dougherty finished in 23:33 and Sophie DeBode completed the course in 23:44. Brianna Bradley was the final Quaker to cross in 24:55.

Penn will hit the West Windsor Fields course again in two weeks for Heps on Nov. 1.
