Thomas Mattsson Named First-Team All-Ivy

Ivy League Release

PHILADELPHIA - Senior captain Thomas Mattsson has been named first-team All-Ivy for the first time in his career. With this honor, he becomes the first men's squash player since the 2007-08 season to be named All-Ivy when Lee Rosen was selected in that year. Mattsson recently finished competing at the individual national championships where he won two matches.

In his final season at Penn, Mattsson compiled a 10-9 mark. He spent the entire season playing at No. 1, his fourth straight year that he held down the top position for Penn. His 10 victories were two more than he had during any other season and he finishes his career with 24 victories overall. In Ivy League matches, the senior won two at the top spot, highlighted by his victory over returning first-team All-American Kenneth Chan of Yale.

In total, Mattsson finished the year with three wins against players that were also named first-team All-Ivy performers. First-team All-Ivy is normally made up of the top-10 performers based on coaches votes, but was expanded to 12 players this year with ties in the voting.
