PHILADELPHIA - The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) has announced its 2015 All-Region teams, and the University of Pennsylvania was represented by three women in the Mid-Atlantic Region. This marks the first time Penn has had three women on the All-Region teams since 2004.
Sophomore attack Alexa Hoover and senior midfielder Elizabeth Hitti were first-team All-Region selections, the first time in program history Penn has had two first-team All-Region selections. Junior Elise Tilton, meanwhile, received second-team recognition.
Hoover -- who was a second-team All-Region pick last year as a freshman -- finished the 2015 campaign with school records for goals (27) and points (63), shattering the previous marks held by Liz Lorelli since 2003. The sophomore was named Ivy League Player of the Week four times during the season, and had a staggering five games with at least three goals. She finished the regular season second in the country in goals per game and points per game.
Hitti -- who participated in the NFHCA's Division I Senior Game at championship weekend -- set program records for assists in a season (18) and career (35), in both cases breaking marks that had stood since 1981. She ended the season leading the nation in assists per game (1.13).
This is Tilton's first All-Region honor. The junior co-captain finished with five goals and five assists for 15 points. In Ivy play, she scored overtime winners against both Harvard and Dartmouth, and she later scored in Ivy wins over Yale and Brown.
Penn finished the 2015 season with a 13-3 overall record, the second time in three seasons they have finished with 13 wins. In Ivy League play, Penn went 5-2 and finished tied for second in the standings.
