Three Tennis Players Selected For NCAA Championships

PHILADELPHIA – Three members of the Penn tennis teams were selected to play in the NCAA Division I Tennis Championships. Junior Jason Pinsky was one of 64 singles selected to compete in the 2007 NCAA Men’s Tennis Championships. For the women, freshmen Maria Anismova and Ekaterina Kosminskaya were one of 32 doubles teams selected to compete.

Automatic qualification into the championships is awarded to any conference with one or more singles player ranked in the ITA Top 125 for singles, and any conference with one or more doubles team ranked in the ITA Top 60 for doubles.

Pinsky is the highest-ranked men’s player in the Ivy League, as he finished the season at No. 96. Anismova and Kosminskaya were the only Ivy doubles team ranked on the women’s side, coming in at No. 59. They are the first doubles pair in Penn women's tennis history to be selected for the NCAA tournament.

Harvard's Beier Ko qualified in singles for the women, while Saurabh Kohli and Dan Hanegby from Brown qualified in doubles for the men.

The 2007 Division I Tennis Championships will take place May 23-28 at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Georgia, following the conclusion of the team championship (May 17-22).
