PHILADELPHIA - The Penn men’s and women’s track & field teams will make the short trek to Princeton, N.J. for the Larry Ellis Invitational this Friday and Saturday, April 22and 23rd at Weaver Stadium on the Princeton University campus.
The meet will mark the last tune-up before the Quakers return home to Franklin Field for the Penn Relays April 29-30th.
More than 150 collegiate teams and over 2,400 student-athletes will compete this weekend in the invitational along with 160 athletes from 36 track clubs. The races will be simulcast on the Ivy League Digital Network and FloTrack and live results will be available.
Field events kick off the two-day event on Friday afternoon and continue into the evening with middle distance and distance races. On Saturday, action begins at 11 a.m. with the shot put and concludes at 6:10 p.m. with the men’s and women’s 4x400 meter relays.
The Quakers have a full slate of athletes competing as they look to earn qualifying marks for the NCAA East Preliminary in Jacksonville, Fla. The top-48 performers in each event will advance to the regional and the Red and Blue currently have 11 men and seven women with qualifying marks.
Division I teams with athletes competing include: Army, Binghamton, Boston College, CCSU, Colgate, Columbia, UConn, Cornell, Dartmouth, FDU, Fordham, Hofstra, Iona, La Salle, Lafayette, Lehigh, LIU Brooklyn, Loyola, Manhattan, Maryland, UMES, Monmouth, Navy, Northeastern, Penn, Quinnipiac, Rhode Island, Rider, Rutgers, Sacred Heart, St. Francis, St. John's, St. Joe's (Pa), Syracuse, Temple, Towson, UMBC, Vermont, Villanova, Wagner and Yale.
