PHILADELPHIA - On the road for the first time this outdoor season, the University of Pennsylvania track and field teams will head to the Maryland Invitational in College Park, Md., on Saturday.
Penn, which hosted the Philadelphia College Classic to open the season last week at Franklin Field, will start Saturday's meet at 10 a.m., with various field events. The steeplechase will start the track events at 10:30 a.m. The meet is set to conclude with the 4x400-meter relay at 3:05 p.m. Meanwhile, junior Sam Mattis will compete in the discus at the Texas Relays.
In the third annual Philadelphia College Classic last week, Penn posted a plethora of first-place finishes to start of the year. Itwas just one of three home meets at Franklin Field this year. The Quakers will serve as host of the world's oldest and largest relay carnival for the 121st consecutive year as well as the 2015 Outdoor Heptagonal Championships. The 121st edition of the Penn Relays is set for April 23-25, while Heps are set for May 9-10.
