PHILADELPHIA - Head Coach Mike McLaughlin announced the addition of transfer Alexis Glasgow to the University of Pennsylvania women's basketball team on Monday. Glasgow comes to Penn after spending her freshman season at Northwestern.
"Alexis is a great fit for our program," said McLaughlin, who has led Penn to three straight postseason appearances and back-to-back 20-win seasons. "She is extremely bright and a talented athlete that can really shoot the three. We are excited to have her as part of the Penn family."
At Northwestern, Glasgow played in nine games and scored 13 points on 5-of-13 shooting. She also grabbed four rebounds for a team that ranked as high as No. 21 in the nation and reached the NCAA Tournament.
A native of Arlington Heights, Ill., Glasgow was a 2014 McDonald's All-America nominee and two-time team captain for two-time state runner-up Rolling Meadows High School. The four-time letterwinner was also a 2014 Miss Illinois Basketball nominee and earned all-state recognition from the Associated Press, Illinois Basketball Coaches Association, Chicago Tribune and Chicago Sun-Times.
Glasgow will need to sit out the 2015-16 season per NCAA transfer rules. She will then have three years of eligibility remaining.
The Quakers recently announced a season-opening matchup with Duke at The Palestra. The team will also take atrip to Hawaiiover the New Years holiday which includes a pair of games.A full schedule will be released this summer.
