PHILADELPHIA - It will be quite a Saturday on boathouse row for the University of Pennsylvania lightweights. In the final home regattas of the year, the No. 8 Quakers host No. 4 Princeton and welcome No. 11 Georgetown as a guest for the Wood-Hammond Cup, and then matchup with No. 7 M.I.T. in the afternoon. Between those events, the Red and Blue will host the Tiffany Boat Dedication.

The Wood-Hammond Cup races begin at 7:30 a.m., on the Schuylkill River and continue through the varsity cup race at 8:50 a.m. The boat dedication is set for approximately 10:30 a.m. The second regatta of theday will begin at 4:30 p.m., and will be capped with the varsity race against M.I.T. at 5:10 p.m.

This is the 70th Wood-Hammond Cup race between these rivals, dating back to 1941. Princeton has claimed the last nine and leads with 58 overall wins. Penn last claimed the Wood-Hammond Cup in 2005 with a victory on the Schuylkill River. Georgetown has now competed as a guest in this race in nine of the last 11 years. Last year, Princeton retained the Wood-Hammond Cup with a winning time of 6:18.57. Penn eventually pulled away from Georgetown and finished second in 6:28.38.

Last week, the Quakers fell to second-ranked Columbia in competition for the Dodge Cup. Penn was third behind Yale in the varsity race. However, the Red and Bluecapped the day with a win in the fours. Both Penn boats were well in front of Columbia. The Quakers 'A' boat finished in 7:40.1 which was just ahead of Penn's second crew, who came across the finish line at 7:45.4.
