New Haven, Conn. - The Quakers had one singles player and one doubles team advance to the quarterfinals of ITA Northeast Regional on Sunday at Yale.
Junior Phil Lawwon his thirdmatch of theevent, defeatingPrinceton's Matt Siow 6-3,6-4 to move into the quarterfinals. Hehas yet to drop a set thus far and will next face Yale's Mark Powers in the quarters. Powers is the number two seed in the regional and was 2010Ivy League Player of the Year.
In doubles play, the freshmen duo of Ivan Turudic and Zach Katz defeated Dartmouth's Greif/Roby 8-4 toadvance into thequarterfinals.Thefreshmen duohad numerous chances but couldn't capitalize on a chance to reach the semis, eventually going down 8-6 to Princeton's Siow/Petocic. Turidic and Katz finish the fall season with an impressive 9-1 record overall as a doubles team.
