Two Fencers Compete in the Junior World Cup

BUDAPEST, Hungary – Two members of the University of Pennsylvania men’s fencing team competed in the Junior World Cup in Budapest on Jan. 7. Sophomore Ron Berkowsky won the bronze medal in the foil, while freshman Matthew Kolasa placed 61st in the sabre.

Berkowsky is currently sixth in the point standings for the Junior Men’s Foil by the United States Fencing Association (USFA). Kolasa is third in the Junior Men’s Sabre.

The Quakers will kick off the 2006 season when they host the Philadelphia Invitational Multi-Meet on Jan. 21-22.
