PHILADELPHIA - Seniors Matt Valenti and Matt Herrington of the No. 14 Penn wrestling team have been invited to the prestigious NWCA All-Star Classic. The event, which pits the nation's No. 1 and No. 2 wrestlers against each other at each weight class, will take place Nov. 20 in Dallas, Texas.
Valenti, the 2006 NCAA national champion at 133 lbs., is ranked No. 1 in the nation at that weight in the NWCA's preseason rankings. Herrington, who was a fifth-place finisher and All-America at 174 lbs. last year, is second in his class.
Pennis one of only three schools to have multiple wrestlers invited to the event. The others are No. 1 Minnesota and No. 10 Northwestern. The All-Star Classic is in its 41st year and has traditionally showcased the nation's best collegiate grapplers.
