Hanover, N.H. - The varsity four remained undefeated on the season by edging Princeton and Dartmouth as the ninth-ranked University of Pennsylvania women's rowing team finished third in the quest for the Class of '84 Plate/Award Plaquethis afternoon on the Connecticut River. Top-ranked Princeton took four out of five races to capture the event, while No. 10 Dartmouth finished second.
The varsity four posted a time of 6:41.7 to win the event finishing five seconds ahead of runner-up Princeton. Dartmouth was third with a time of 6:54.8. In the varsity four "B" race, Penn posted second and third-place finishes with the "B" boat taking second in 7:02.9 while the first novice four placed third in 7:12.3. The Tigers rowed a winning time of 6:55.1.
The second varsity eight, ranked seventh in the nation,finished second with a time of 6:16.1 while Princeton's third-ranked second varsityposted a time of 6:00.5 in the win. The11th-rankedBig Green finished about nine seconds behind Penn, recording a mark of 6:25.0.
In the varsity eight, Princeton was again victorious with a time of 5:51.2. Dartmouth edged out Penn for second place with a time of 6:01.0, while the Quakers placed third with a time of 6:02.2.
