PHILADELPHIA – University of Pennsylvania Kenneth L. Gross Head Coach of volleyball Kerry Carr has announced the fall 2015 schedule. As per the usual, the fall features three tournaments before the Quakers open Ivy play with League rival Princeton.
For the first tournament of the season, the Red and Blue won’t travel far as they head down to Howard University in Washington D.C. and open the season with Maryland and then George Mason. They will then head to College Park the following day to take on Western Carolina and Howard.
Penn will welcome Delaware to The Palestra on Tuesday, September 15 after hosting the Crowne Plaza Philadelphia West Penn Invitational. The Quakers will then play their final match at home before the Ivy season with Villanova in the Big 5 Tournament on September 18. They will then wrap up the tournament at Temple, playing the Owls on Saturday at 10 a.m. and La Salle at 4 p.m.
The Red and Blue will open the Ivy League season on the road at Princeton and will play their final nonconference match of the season at NJIT the following Saturday.
Penn will get the longest road trip of the season out of the way next, playing Dartmouth and Harvard the first weekend in October. The Quakers will first welcome Cornell and Columbia to The Palestra the following week, playing at home on October 9 and 10. Road trips to Yale and Brown will conclude the first half of the Ivy season while Princeton at home opens the second portion on Friday, October 23.
The following to weekends, the Red and Blue will stay home, hosting Harvard and Dartmouth Halloween weekend while concluding the home portion of the schedule with Brown and Yale November 6 and 7. Penn will then end the regular slate in New York, playing Columbia on Friday November 13 and ending at Cornell on Saturday.
