Lewisburg, Pa. The University of Pennsylvania volleyball team defeated Bucknell, 3-0, this evening. Junior Michelle Kauffman and freshman Laura Black led all players with 12 kills each during the match.
"The team played exceptionally well," said Head Coach Kerry Major Carr. "They executed the offense and were great on defense, something that they have been working really hard on. The girls did a great job of coming back after a tough loss to Cornell, and they are improving with each match."
The Quakers (10-8) won the first game, 30-14 and the second game 30-17 beforeclosing outtheBison (11-9) in the third game, 30-21.
To go along with her 12 kills, Kauffman had a hitting percentage of .435 and Black hit .611 for the match. Kauffman also had 4.5 of the teams 13 total blocks. Senior Lynzy Caton had seven kills in the match and set a new career high with 4.5 total blocks. Freshman Linda Zhang, who currently leads the Ivy League in hitting percentage at .423, had three kills, 37 assists and 11 digs in the victory. Overall, the Quakers had a hitting percentage of .413 with only five errors in the win.
Freshman Jenna Henderson led the Bison with seven kills in the match.
The Quakers are next in action onFriday, Oct. 29, when they host Brown in The Palestra at 7 p.m..
