Volleyball Drops Match to San Diego State, 3-0

FULLERTON, Calif. - The Penn volleyball team continued its hard-luck start to the season, dropping its match with San Diego State, 3-0, in the Holiday Inn Buena Park Fullerton Classic. The Quakers(0-4) fell 30-14, 30-23, and 30-16 to the Aztecs (5-6).Kathryn Turner turned in a team-high eight kills for the Quakers.

Game two was Penn’s closest set of the night. The Quakers held a 14-11 advantage, but the Aztecs scored the next three points to tie the score. Despite being down 21-18, Penn reeled of three points to tie the score. However, San Diego State scored the next four points to put the game out of reach. Freshman Natalie Drucker led the Red and Blue with four kills in the game.

Penn’s defense has been solid through their first three matches; however tonight the Quakerscould not stop the Aztecs' attack game. San Diego State connected for 55 kills and hit .361. Elizabeth Hurst was the only Quaker to reach double digits in digs (14).

Saturday the Quakers take on host Cal State Fullerton at 1 p.m. (EDT) and Lipscomb at 7:30 p.m. (EDT). Friday night CSF swept Lipscomb.
