ALBANY, N.Y. The University of Pennsylvania volleyball team opened its 2005 season losing to Ohio University 3-0 in the UAlbany Classic. Anna Shlimak and Kathryn Turner combined for 15 kills.
The Quakers (0-1) dropped the first game 30-23 to the Bobcats (6-1). Ohio took the second game 30-16, but Penn would not go down without a fight. They lost a tough third game 30-25. The Red and Blue held the Bobcats to just 15 kills and a match-high seven errors. Penn committed just five errors in the third game and tallied 18 digs.
Sophomore Linda Zhang led the Quakers with 23 assists. Laura Black and Zhang each had five digs in the match. Black also recorded a block solo and a block assist.
