Philadelphia, Pa. The University of Pennsylvania volleyball team lost to Yale, 3-2, today. JuniorMichelle Kauffmanset a new career-high with 23 kills in the loss.
“Yale was very consistant,” said Head Coach Kerry Carr. “Our service errors cost us and we could just not stop the right side attack.”
The Quakers (11-9, 4-5) won the first game, 30-25, but the Bulldogs (10-7, 5-4) won the next game 30-28. Penn fought back to win the third game 30-24, but could not hold on as Yale won the next two games 30-27 and 15-6.
In addition to Kauffman's play, junior Cara Thomason had 14 kills and three service aces along with 22 digs in the match. Freshman Laura Black contributed 13 kills, two blocks and nine digs. Senior Lynzy Caton had ten kills and set a new career high for total blocks with 5.5.
Senior Jana Freeman led the Bulldogs with 24 kills and 22 digs in the match.
The Quakers are next in action on Tuesday, Nov. 2, when they host Villanova at 7 p.m. in The Palestra.
