PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania volleyball staff is pleased to offer a pair of new camp experiences this summer in addition to its annual overnight camp.
From August 5-8, Head Coach Kerry Carr, her staff, and members of the Penn volleyball team will be on hand to run the Penn Volleyball Day Clinic Series designed for grades 3-12 that allows each camper to choose the set of skills they are looking to develop. Morning sessions run from 9 am-12 pm and allow groups – broken up according to age and skill level – to focus in on particular aspects of serving, passing, attacking or becoming a top-rate defensive player.
An afternoon session will follow on each of the four days from 1:30-4:30 pm, with the campers given the opportunity to choose a position on the court and learn the finer points of playing setter, middle blocker, outside hitter or libero. With four days and a total of seven sessions, each camper will have the chance to learn what they want to, when they want to.
In addition to the Penn Volleyball Clinic Series, Carr will simultaneously host VolleyKids!, a camp geared for grades K-2 that serves as an introduction to the game of volleyball. Each session of VolleyKids! will run from 9-11 am on August 5-8.
Both VolleyKids! and the Penn Volleyball Day Clinic Series have been added in the hopes of engaging local youth from in and around Philadelphia to pick up the sport. The grassroots nature of the program allows for a lower cost alternative than almost any other camp like it, with an “a la carte” setup giving the option of sessions that can be purchased individually, or combined for a full day of activities.
Penn’s annual overnight camp is scheduled for August 8-11 and is open to all ages 12-18. Featuring eight hours of daily instruction, this intensive camp offers the chance to receive personalized skill development thanks to a camper to staff ratio of 4:1.
All Penn volleyball camps will take place inside the historic Palestra. For all information and registration, please visit www.pennvolleyballcamp.com. Any further inquiries can be emailed to Penn Volleyball Camp Staff at email@example.com.
