Philadelphia, Pa. The University of Pennsylvania volleyball team swept Cornell, 3-0, this evening. Juniors Cara Thomason and Michelle Kauffman led the way for the Quakers with ten kills each.
"This was a reallygreat match," said Head Coach Kerry Major Carr. "The way the girls came back during the second game was great. We played a real thinking match, stayed patient and really came through when things got tough."
The Quakers (13-9, 5-5 Ivy League) won the first game, 30-28. Then the battle began, with theBig Red(16-7, 8-3 Ivy League)leading for most of the second game. The Red and Blue pulled through and won the game, 32-30.They then won the third and final game, 30-24.
In addition to Thomason and Kauffman's 10 kills, senior Lynzy Caton had nine kills for the Quakers. Thomason also had 22 digs while sophomore Meredith Damore added 14 digs and three service aces.
Sophomore Elizabeth Bishop led the way for the Big Red with 24 kills and 14 digs.
