PHILADELPHIA - The University of Pennsylvania volleyball team improved its win streak to three matches by defeating Quinnipiac, 3-0, Sunday in the second round of the Sheraton-Penn Invitational. Penn (3-5) downed the Bobcats (0-16)30-14, 30-13 and 30-21. Freshman Anne Magnuson paced the Quakers with 10 kills.
Penn proved to be too much for Quinnipiac on both sides of the ball, hitting .289 as a team andcollecting 43 kills. On defense, Penn totaled 50 digs and eight block assists.
In game two, Laura Black served four service aces, including three in a row. Black also connected on four kills in the third set. Meredith Damore (12) and Elizabeth Hurst (10) led the Quakers in digs.
Penn concludes the Sheraton-Penn Invitational by hosting Fairleigh Dickinson Sunday evening at 5:30 p.m. On Sunday morning, Binghamton swept the Knights, 3-0.
