NEW YORK The University of Pennsylvania volleyball team ended its New York road trip with a 3-0 win at Columbia Saturday afternoon. Penn took Games 1 and 2, 30-20 and Game 3, 30-24.
In Games 1 and 2 Penn established seven-point leads that proved insurmountable to the Lions. The Quakers took a 17-10advantage in the first two games and rode out their lead to a comfortable 2-0 lead.
Game 3 remained close until a 5-0 run by the Red and Blue put them up 28-23. After Columbia scored the next point, Penn scored the final two points to clinch the match.
Laura Black led the Quakers with 17 kills while recording a double-double with 10 digs. Elizabeth Hurst surpassed the 1,000 career digs mark with 23. She joins fellow senior Meredith Damore as the only Penn teammates to reach 1,000 digs in the same season.
Wednesday, Penn closes out its season at rival Princeton at 7 p.m.
