Volleyball Wins 3rd Match in a Row, 3-0 over NJIT

NEWARK, N.J. – The University of Pennsylvania volleyball team made it three wins in a row on Saturday night, sweeping NJIT (26-24, 25-20, 25-17) at the Estelle and Zoom Fleisher Athletic Center. The Quakers wrap up their non-conference schedule with a 6-6 record and improve to 7-6 overall.

Senior Alexis Genske led the way offensively for a second consecutive night, racking up a team-high 12 kills. Classmate Alex Caldwell also continued her strong senior season by registering nine kills. Fellow senior Michellie McDonald-O’Brien and sophomore Hayley Molnar posted seven kills each, with McDonald-O’Brien hitting a team-best .467. Freshman Courtney Quinn chipped in to the attack with five kills. Senior setter Ronnie Bither dished out a squad-best 25 assists in the victory. On the defensive side, sophomore Michelle Pereira produced 11 digs.

The Highlanders had strong performances from the Vukotic sisters, who combined for 17 kills. Anneka Harris was also pivotal for NJIT, recording six kills.

The Quakers will be back in action on Friday, October 2 when they travel to take on Dartmouth at 7 p.m.
