Volleyball's Semmens Named Ivy Co-Rookie of the Week

PHILADELPHIA – Freshman Elizabeth Semmens of the Penn volleyball team was named Ivy League Co-Rookie of the Week Tuesday. Semmens shared the honors with Princeton’s Sheena Donahue.

Semmens reached double digits in kills in both matches she played in this weekend as Penn went 3-0. Saturday against Binghamton, Semmens delivered 10 kills, five digs and two block assists. Four of her kills came in game three. Sunday, Semmens registered 14 kills while hitting .333 in Penn’s 3-1 win over Fairleigh Dickinson. She had four kills in each of the first three games, including the game-winning kill in games two and three. Semmens was named to the Sheraton-Penn Invitational all-tournament team.

The Quakers are back in action Wednesday when they host Villanova at The Palestra at 5 p.m.
