Philadelphia University of Pennsylvania women’s lacrosse goalie Sarah Waxman was named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week for her performance in the Quakers 12-6 season-ending victory over Rutgers on May 8.
In just her second collegiate start, the freshman earned the win with 11 saves on 22 shots faced. The Washington, D.C. native also collected three ground balls in the win. In six appearances on the season, Waxman had an 8.29 goals against average, while facing 85 shots. She had 30 saves on the season.
The Quakers finished the 2005 season with an 8-7 overall record and a 4-3 mark in Ivy League play. That record put them in a tie for third in the Ancient Eight standings.
