Connelly and Muller Named Penn Athletes of the Week

April 7, 2004

Men's lacrosse player Patrick Connelly (Lutherville, Md.) and women's lacrosse player Chrissy Muller (Rydal, Pa.) have been named Penn Athletes of the Week for the week ending April 4, 2004.

Tri-captain Connelly drew the unenviable assignment of Cornell's Andrew Collins when Penn and No. 9 Cornell faced-off against one another on Saturday, April 3. Collins entered the contest leading the Ivy League in scoring, and ninth in the NCAA in points per game (4.0) with 16 of them coming on assists. After allowing Collins to feed Sean Greenhalgh for a game-opening man-up goal, Connelly shut down the Big Red's offensive magician, limiting Collins to just three shots on net and forcing him into two turnovers. The Quakers win over Cornell was its sixth-straight at Franklin Field and first over the Big Red in seven years. Connelly was named Ivy League Player of the Week as well.

Muller scored five goals and added five assists in a 1-1 week for the Penn women's lacrosse team. Against No. 12 Johns Hopkins, Muller had two goals and two assists as the Quakers fell, 10-6, at Franklin Field on March 30. She then helped Penn improve to 2-1 in the Ivy League with three goals and three assists against Columbia on April 3.
