Freshman Annika Eiremo and senior Emily Logan have been named Penn Athletics' Co-Athletes of the Week for the week ending March 15.
Eiremo won all 11 of her bouts to place first at the Mid-Atlantic/South Regionals this past Saturday at Drew University. She entered the Regional as the number one seed. One week earlier, Eiremo captured the individual Intercollegiate Fencing Association (IFA) championship in women's sabre. The team's sabre title was Penn's first weapon crown at the IFAs since men's foil claimed the banner in 2002. Eiremo was named first-team All-Ivy League in her first season in the Red and Blue.
Logan finished 14th in the 3,000 at the 2004 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Fayetteville, Ark. last weekend. She was one of the top eight fastest Americans in the event, and therefore earned her first All-America honor.
The Walpole, Mass. native crossed the finish line in 9:23.82, which was the second-fastest time in Penn women's track and field history. Logan became Penn's first All-American since Karyn Smith earned the honor in 1994.
