Williamsburg, Va. - The Penn women's golf team opened the 2005 spring season at the William & Mary Tribe Invitational on March 26-27. The tournament, which was played on Ford Colony's Marsh Hawk Course in James City County, Va., featured 17 teams and over 90 golfers. The Quakers finished 12th overall after shooting a 335-338=673 in their first outing of the season.
Senior captain Melissa Aylor was Penn's top finisher, as she placed 24th with a 77-85=162. Meg Bender was second for Penn with an 80-83=163, which was good for 30th place. Among the other competitors for Penn were Kim Thompson, who shot a 90-83=173, Stephanie Stamas, who had an 89-87=176 and Megan Brady, who shot a two-round total of 177 (89-88).
The Quakers will be back in action on April 2-3 when they travel to the Georgetown Invitational.
