PHILADELPHIA - Penn returns home to complete Big Five men's basketball play for the 2011-12 season on Saturday night when the Quakers host Saint Joseph's at The Palestra at 7 p.m. With the usual split crowd expected for the 80th all-time meeting between two of Philadelphia's premier basketball programs, Penn Athletics invites all Quaker fans to "White Out" The Palestra this Saturday!
The first 400 Penn students to arrive for the game will receive a FREE white Penn t-shirt compliments of Jimmy John's, while all Penn supporters can get in on the act to support the 9-9 Quakers in their final non-conference game of the season.
Penn students should keep an eye out on campus Thursday afternoon as Zack Rosen and Tyler Bernardini will be making their way around Locust Walk and other areas of campus starting at 12:15 with contests and prizes!
The Quakers are back in The Palestra after a sweep of a road trip to New York last weekend to open Ivy League play at Columbia and Cornell. The Quakers have won three of their last four games and are looking win back-to-back games over the Hawks following a 73-61 win last season.
In addition to the "White Out", make sure to stay in your seats at halftime for a return performance by "Drums of Thunder", a group of fourth and fifth-grade percussionists from Hillside Elementary School in Montclair, N.J. This amazing group of young musicians wowed The Palestra crowd last year and have performed previously at NBA and NFL halftimes as well as NBC's "Today Show". Here is a preview of what to expect Saturday night from "Drums of Thunder".
