NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Penn sophomore Scotty Williams finished play at the NCAA East Regional golf tournament Saturday, shooting a final-round 79 on the par-70 Course at Yale. For the weekend, Williams shot 70-73-79--222 (+12) and finished in a tie for 58th out of 75 golfers in the event.

Williams did not qualify for the NCAA Men's Golf Championships, which will take place June 1-6 at The Honors Course in Chattanooga, Tenn. From the East Regional field, team co-champions Texas and Kent State moved on along with UCLA, Penn State and Virginia. Individually, Rhys Enoch of East Tennessee State won medalist honors and also advances to the NCAAs.

Williams closes out an historic season for the Penn golf programs, as he was the first men's player to compete in NCAA postseason competition since the 2007 team played in the West Regional and Chance Pipitone advanced to the NCAA Championships from there. On the women's side, the Quakers won the Ivy title and competed in this year's NCAA West Regional, the first time that program played in NCAA competition.
