REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. - The University of Pennsylvania women's golf team closed out the fall portion of its 2016-17 schedule this weekend with a third-place finish at the University of Delaware Invitational, a 54-hole event that took place on the par-71 Rehoboth Beach Country Club.
Penn improved its team score each day, shooting 312-311-309--932. Ivy rival Harvard won the team title, shooting a three-round 920 which put the Crimson 10 shots ahead of the host Blue Hens and 12 clear of the Quakers. The other Ivy team in the field, Dartmouth, shot 959 and placed seventh among 10 teams.
Freshman Christina Park was Penn's low scorer this weekend; she shot 75-80-76 to finish the weekend at 18-over-par 231 which placed her eighth in a field of 59 golfers. Senior Sophia Chen tied for ninth (78-77-77--232), while classmate Isabella Rahm was 11th (79-77-77--233).
Penn's next two low scorers were the women playing the tournament as individuals, as Allison Wong (81-80-78--239) tied for 21st and Michelle Yom (82-81-81--244) tied for 30th. Erin Lo also tied for 30th in the field, shooting 80-85-79--244, while Janet Zhang tied for Penn's low second round and tied for 40th overall (88-77-85--250).
Harvard's Anna Zhou was individual medalist; she shot 75-72-76--223 to finish atop a field of 59 golfers. She was five shots ahead of two women who tied for second place, Ashleigh Greenham of Rutgers and Delaware's Vitoria Teixeira.
