ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The University of Pennsylvania women's golf team finished third out of 16 teams in the season-opening Navy Fall Invitational, which concluded Sunday at the par-72 Naval Academy Golf Club.
Penn shot 310-313--623 over the 36 holes, which was behind only team champion Harvard and Towson. The Crimson shot 304-311--615, while the Tigers shot 310-311--621.
Individually, Erin Lo was the low scorer in Penn's lineup. She shot 81-75--156 to finish tied for 14th out of 87 golfers. Sophia Chen also shot a 75 on Sunday, after an 82 on Saturday that left her tied for 17th at 157.
Isabella Rahm had Penn's low round on Saturday, a 75, and followed it up with an 83 on Sunday to finish tied for 22nd at 158. Janet Zhang also shot a 158 (78-80), while freshman Christina Park shot 76-83--159 in her first collegiate tournament to tie for 25th.
Two Penn women were in the field as individuals. Freshman Yubin Huh ended up having the best weekend of all the Quakers players, shooting 76-76--152 and tying for fifth in the field. The other, Allison Wong, shot 74-81--155.
The individual champion was Ellen Nighbor of Sacred Heart. She shot 71-77--148 to finish two shots ahead of Wagner's Pascalle Tego and Towson's Jenny Buchanan.
The women are now off the rest of the month, returning to action the weekend of October 1-2 at the Princeton Invitational.
