PHILADELPHIA - The University of Pennsylvania women's golf team closes out the fall portion of its 2016-17 season this weekend, competing in the University of Delaware Invitational.
The 54-hole event will take place at Rehoboth Beach (Del.) Country Club which is scheduled to play at par-71 and 6,003 yards this weekend. The teams will play two rounds on Saturday, the first beginning with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start, and a final round on Sunday starting at 9 a.m.
Penn is one of three Ivy League teams in the 10-team field, along with Dartmouth and Harvard. The rest of the field includes the host Blue Hens, Delaware State, High Point, La Salle, Rutgers, Seton Hall, and Towson.
The Quakers' lineup will be anchored by the senior trio of Isabella Rahm, Erin Lo and Sophia Chen. They will be joined by freshman Christina Park and sophomore Janet Zhang. Two other sophomores, Allison Wong and Michelle Yom, will play the event as individuals.
"We have had some great success at Delaware in the past," said head coach Mark Anderson. "Amanda Chin won this tournament in 2014, and Sophia Chen won in 2013. As a team, we have finished second twice and third last year. I know this team is capable of putting up the scores necessary to win the team title. We had a week off after our solid play at Yale two weeks ago. We were able to get some rounds in and work on a few things to improve consistency. With Harvard and Dartmouth in the field this year, it would be great to finish the fall season with a solid performance this weekend."
