PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania women’s tennis team heads to its second tournament of the fall season this weekend, traveling to the Big Apple to compete in the Roar-ee Invitational hosted by Columbia University. Action begins at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 23 and concludes on Sunday, Sept. 25.
The Quakers will battle the host Lions as well as fellow New York school St. John’s at Dick Savitt Tennis Center. On Friday, the Red and Blue are set to display their doubles teams in a scramble format, with each pair playing one match.
Saturday, Penn will face Columbia in singles 1-6 beginning at 10 a.m. At noon, all three schools will have a singles scramble with one match per player. Following the scramble, all three teams will compete in a doubles scramble with one match per team.
On the final day of play, Penn and St. John’s will face off in No. 1-7 singles matches at 9 a.m. Doubles matches 1-3 will be played at approximately 11:30 a.m.
The Quakers look to continue to build upon strong performances to start the year at the William & Mary Invitational, during which freshman Sarah Dreyfuss was named Singles Champion of the event and senior Kana Daniel joined her in going undefeated in singles play.
