NORFOLK - Penn has placed four women into the round of 16 at the ITA East Regionals hosted by Old Dominion University.
Sixth-seeded Ekaterina Kosminskaya advanced with wins over OldDominion'sBarbara Costa (6-0, 6-2) and Lindsey Pereira of Virginia (6-3, 6-2). Awaiting her in the next round is 12th seed, Inga Beerman of Virginia Tech.
Yulia Rivelis is seeded 14th and advacned to the round of 16 with tough three-setvictories over Princeton's Taylor Marable (6-3, 6-7 (4), 7-5) and Vera Petrashevich of Virginia Commonwealth (6-3, 1-6, 6-3)
Julia Koulbitskaya is the 15th seed and has advanced to the round of 16 with two wins on Sunday. She defeated Ashlee Vosters of Richmond, 7-5, 7-5 and then beat Victoria Konstantinova of Virginia Commonwealth, 6-4, 7-6 (3). On Monday, she will meet fifth-seeded Katarina Zoricic of William and Mary.
Charlotte Tansill began play as the 26th seed in the tournament. She defeated Lauren Sabacinski of William and Mary, 6-4, 7-6 (3) and Richmond'a Pamela Duran 6-4, 6-3. Up next is seventh-seeded Melissa Saiontz from Princeton.
In doubles, the second-seeded team of Kosminskaya and Koulbitskaya advanced to the quarterfinals with a win over Richmond's team of Duran/Vosters, 9-7. Their opponents in the next round will be the 11th seeded team of Michal Amir and Julia Huschke of Maryland.
