KENYON, Ohio - Following the first day of competition in the Nike Invitational, the women's swimming team leads by more than 100 points.
The Quakers have 196 points thus far, while second place Kenyonhas just 90. Pen got good finishes in their distance events to take the early lead. Stephanie Nerby took the top spot in the 1650 free with a time of 16:57.20while Blair Webb, Sarah Ernst and Melissa Parratto took third, fourth and fifth respectively.
In the 800 yard free relay the Penn quartet of Nerby, Naomi Delphin, Webb and Andrea Balint finished in 7:35.81 for a second place finish.
The Nike Invitational will continue with a full day Friday. Preliminary heats begin at 9:30 a.m. and final heats start at 6:00 p.m.
