Women Harriers Run Strong at NCAA Regionals

State College, Pa. - The University of Pennsylvania women’s cross country team finished sixth at the NCAA Mid Atlantic Regional Championships on the campus of Penn State on Saturday afternoon.

Freshman Claire Kim led the Quakers with a 33rd –place finish in a time of 22:20. Sophomores Jennifer Blank and Jackie Dunn followed in 35th and 37th place, respectively. Blank crossed the finish line in a time 22:26 while Dunn finished three seconds later. Freshman Stacey Kim placed 38th overall in a time of 22:31. Seniors Claire Duncan and Anne Marie Allander and sophomore Tina Morrison rounded out the Penn scoring finishing 47th, 63rd and 72nd.

Maureen McCandless of Pittsburgh won the race while West Virginia won the meet scoring 63 points. Villanova (68), Princeton (83), Georgetown (112) and Penn State (114) rounded out the top five. Penn was sixth with 190.

The women’ track team opens the 2004-05 campaign on Dec. 4 at the Brown Invitational.
