Women's Basketball Returns to Take on Temple

PHILADELPHIA--The Penn women's basketball team (3-6) jumps back into game action with a Thursday night contest at Temple (6-6). The game is set for 7 p.m. at the Liacouras Arena in Philadelphia.

The Quakers are hoping to pocket their first Big 5 win of the season, but have their work cut out for them taking on Temple. The Owls are running a record-tying 15 game winning streak in the Big 5. Temple got to that mark with its first city outing of the season, a win at Villanova, Dec. 21. The Owl's 54-46 victory came a day after Penn's 60-41 defeat at Drexel.

Penn is led by Carrie Biemer who is averaging 14.9 points per game. Anca Popovici has been quick to the boards and leads the team with 5.0 rpg while point guardSarah Bucar--the leading scorer against Drexel--has led her team in assists (28).

For the Owls, guard Ashley Morris leads the team in points (16.5 ppg) and assists (40). Senior Lady Comfort plays an even game with 9.2 ppg and a team-best 9.1 rpg. She had a career-high 13 rebounds against Villanova. Another threat, LaKeisha Eaddy has nabbed 20 steals this season.

This is the 38th meeting between the teams with theOwls leading the series, 10-27. In the teams' lastouting Temple defeated Penn, 68-49on Dec. 29, 2006 at The Palestra.
