PROVIDENCE, R.I.--The Penn women's basketball team got its second Ivy sweep of the season and completed a season sweep of Brown with a 72-56 win Saturday night at the Pizzitola Center in Providence, R.I. The Quakers improved to 12-14 overall and moved above .500 in the Ivy League with a 7-6 record. The Bears fell to 5-23 on the season and 3-11 in Ivy play.
Penn enjoyed 20-point performances by seniors Monica Naltner and Joey Rhoads. It was the first 20 game for both inover amonth. Meanwhile, Lauren Pears ripped seven rebounds (six defensive), dished out four assists and grabbed two steals on the night.
In the paint, sophomore Maggie Burgess and Carrie Biemer continued to shine with six and seven points, respectively. Biemer chipped in five rebounds while Burgess added a block--her 14th of the season.
Rhoads shot a perfect 3-for-3 in the firstandwas nearly perfect from the linein the second going 7-of-8. As a team, the Quakers shot 46.2-percent on the night and 40.0-percent from three-point range.
Brown's Lindsay Walls scored 19 pointsto lead her team and co-led the team's rebounding with Lena McAfee who also had six board.
Penn will play one final game of the 2006-07 season at Princeton. Game time is set for 9 p.m., following the men's Penn-Princeton game.
