PHILADELPHIA - Aloha! And Happy New Year!

The University of Pennsylvania women's basketball team is heading to Hawai'i this season where they will play two games and celebrate New Years on the beaches of the Aloha State. The Quakers will take on BYU-Hawaii and Hawai'i during the visit. Official game dates and times are still to be determined.

Under head coach Mike McLaughlin, the Quakers have made these destination trips a habit. Last season, the Quakers spent 10 days in Italy and opened the season at No. 4 Tennessee. The year prior, the Quakers spent New Years in Miami, where they defeated the Hurricanes for the program's first-ever win over an ACC opponent. Also under McLaughlin, Penn played in the Surf 'N Slam Classic in San Diego, and the DoubleTree Invitational in Chicago in addition to road games at Notre Dame and Virginia in recent years.

"Our players hear me say it a lot, but it is true," McLaughlin said. "Their time as a student-athlete at Penn is all about the experience. We play to win no matter where we go, but it's not always just about basketball. These are trips, moments and games that they will remember their entire lives, and that's what these four years are truly about - strengthing friendships andmaking memoriesthat will last a lifetime."

This will be the program's second trip to Hawai'i. The Quakers played in the 1985 Rainbow Classic in Honolulu where they defeated Hawaii Pacific and lost to Hawai'i and Temple.

More details on this trip will be available in the coming months, and a complete 2015-16 schedule will be announced late this summer.
