LA SPEZIA, Italy - Sophomore Sydney Stipanovich led the University of Pennsylvania women's basketball team with a game-high 23 points in a 78-49 win over AS Vertis La Spezia on Sunday night in La Spezia, Italy.

Penn moved to 2-0 in its 2014 Italy Tour. The Quakers also topped the Italy All Stars on Wednesday (69-39).

Sunday's game was moved to a local school gymnasium after recent heavy rainfall flooded La Spezia's home court.

Stipanovich was in midseason form -- dominating around the basket and connecting on mid-range jump shots. Her 14 first-quarter points gave the Quakers a commanding 20-4 lead.

Three other Quakers finished in double figures, including Kathleen Roche (10) and Renee Busch (10) who each hit a three in the second quarter and the Red and Blue led 40-17 at the break.

After an even third quarter ended with Penn up 52-37, the fourth quarter was also back-and-forth until the Quakers finished the game on a 12-2 run. Junior Brooklyn Juday hit a pair of second-half threes -- which are about a foot further back in FIBA rules -- and finished second on the team with 12 points.

Sophomore Sade Gibbons added five points -- all in the fourth quarter. Classmate Jackie Falconer had seven points and senior Kara Bonenberger also contributed seven. Junior Rayne Connell had four points and multiple assists.

La Spezia plays in the national basketball league in Italy, but was missing several starters, including its two American players who will join the team prior to the start of their season this winter.

Following the game, La Spezia hosted a five-course meal for the Quakers at a restaurant alongside La Spezia's scenic harbor.

The Quakers play their third and final international game on Sunday against Chemcats Chemitz (Germany) in Pistoia, Italy at 1:30 p.m. EST.

For the duration of the team's Italy Tour, the coaches and players will document the trip in their travel log. You can also follow the Quakers ontwitterandinstagram.
