Women's Cross Country Comes in Eighth at Heps

On a muddy and torn-up course hosting its second race in an hour, the Penn women's cross country team came in eighth place on Saturday at Princeton's West Windsor Fields. Leslie Kovach pushed her way through for a 27th place finish in 23:01.6to lead the Quakers on the day.

Following Kovach in second place for the Red and Blue was classmate Margaret Diacont. Diacont got through the course in a time of 23:49.2 to finish 47th. Moments later, Ariel Beauregard-Breton crossed the finsh line, taking 48th in 23:52.3. Scoring was rounded out Lauren Kester (24:05.6, 51st)and Chelsea Delaney (24:16.8, 53rd).

In a tight battle to the end, Cornell edged out Columbia for the overall team championship, winning with 49 points to the Lions' 51. Abbey D'Agostino, a sophomore from Dartmouth, won the individual title with a time of 21:58.2

The Quakers will next compete in the NCAA East Regional at Princess Anne, Md. on Saturday, Nov. 12. Race time is scheduled for 12:15 p.m.
