New York City The University of Pennsylvania women’s cross country team competed at the 2004 Ivy League Heptagonal Championships on Friday afternoon at Van Courtland Park. The young squad finished eighth.
Sophomore Jennifer Blank was the first Quaker to cross the finish line with a time of 18:48.6 and in 39th place. She was followed by the quartet of freshman Claire Kim, sophomore Jackie Dunn, senior Claire Duncan and freshman Stacy Kim finished 43rd, 44th, 45th and 46th, respectively. Claire Kim crossed the finish line in a time of 18:54.0 while Duncan finished just behind her in 18:56.4. Dunn completed the course in 18:58.5, while Stacy Kim rounded out the scoring with a time of 18:59.7.
Caroline Bierbaum of Columbia led to team to victory with her first-place finish. She completed the course in 17:12.2. Columbia won their third-straight title scoring just 51 points in the meet. Princeton took second with 64 points followed by Yale (73), Dartmouth (108), Cornell (114), Harvard (135), Brown (176) and Penn (217).
