Women's Cross Country Finishes Ninth at Paul Short

BETHLEHEM, Pa.--The Penn women's cross country team finished ninth at the prestigious Paul Short Invitational, Friday. The team scored 308 points in the 6K outing.

Seniors Claire and Stacy Kim led the way for the Quakers in 35th and 36th places with a time of 21:35. Leah Brogan was right behind them at 21:36 for 37th place. Kinjal Parikh (22:12, 72nd) and Charlotte Lawson (22:51, 128th) rounded out the Quakers' scoring.

Also competing for Penn was Carol Xu who finished at 23:15 and Jamie Liberti who was clocked at 23:45.

Ivy foe Princeton was the race winner with 45 points, far outshining its nearest challenger West Virginia which finished second with 118 points. Texas Tech finished third as a team, but boasted the top individual, Sally Kipyego, who paced the field at 19:59.

The Quakers return to action at Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, Ind.--the site of the 2007 NCAA Cross Country Championships--Oct. 13.
