PHILADELPHIA - The Penn women's cross country team travels back to Van Cortlandt Park in New York for the second time in as many weeks on Saturday for the Iona Meet of Champions.
The Quakers ran in the Fordham Fiasco last weekend however this week the course will be slightly different as the Red and Blue go from a 5k to 6k in the Iona Meet of Champions. In 2009 the team finished second with five runners in the top 20, including Leslie Kovach's seventh place finish.
Last Saturday it was Kovach who helped lead Penn to victory with her second place finish. She was one of three Quaker runners to record a top ten finish. Sophomore Megan Powell was the second Red and Blue runner to cross, taking fifth, while freshman Catherine Phillips made an impressive debut, finishing in seventh.
The Red and Blue are one of four Ivy League teams and 18 overall to take part in the race, which begins at 9:30 a.m.
